Send Bitcoin To Ledger Nano S

My Ledger nano S does not work out of the box for two reasons:

  1. Bitcoin app not working: after followed official instructions, after installed bitcoin app on device and I select ‘Use wallet to view accounts’, no thing happened.
  2. I’ve got a Bitcoin wallet (with small amount of BTC) which I want to test sending to Nano S wallet. The problem is I forget how/where I got this wallet. So with only wallet address and private key, I don’t know how to send BTC in that wallet to Nano S.

The solution to problem #1, is to install Ledger Wallet Bitcoin app on my Chrome browser (in addition to Ledger Manager app and Bitcoin app inside applications panel, which official instructions told me to install).

After installed Ledger Wallet Bitcoin app, select Bitcoin on Ledger Nano S, select ‘Use wallet to view accounts’, and the Ledger Wallet Bitcoin app should be working.

Now, I can see my Ledger Nano S has one Bitcoin wallet with 0 balance. I want to send the small amount of BTC from my previous created Bitcoin wallet (wallet A), to my Ledger Nano S’s Bitcoin wallet (wallet B).

After a little googling, I found I can do this with https://blockchain.info/wallet/:

  1. Sign up account if you don’t have account like me.
  2. After log in, you should be at some place like dashboard.
  3. Select ‘Settings’ on left panel, and select ‘addresses’. Then select ‘Import Bitcoin Address’ on right panel.
  4. Input wallet A address, and select ‘Import’.
  5. Select ‘Import Bitcoin address’ again and input wallet B address and select ‘import’.
  6. Now you can see both wallet A and B listed. Select ‘More options’ of wallet A and click ‘spend’ (I tried to use ‘Transfer’ but it can only transfer to wallet created when I sign up blockchain.info.)
  7. You should see a dialog titled: Send Bitcoin: Type wallet B address to ‘To’, and specify amount of BTC you want to send (If you choose to send all BTC, you would be prompt ‘total amount minus fee’, click on red text it will auto fill that value to the ‘To’ field.) And of course you have to enter wallet A’s private key. After every thing setup, click ‘CONTINUE’.
  8. After BTC sent, you need to wait for a moment (may take even hours, depending to traffic on blockchain) before you can confirm BTC sent to Ledget Nano S, by checking your ‘Ledger Wallet Bitcoin app’.
